Community Service ... and Orientation Meeting #4

We had a beautiful day for our community service project at Howarth Park. Hopefully all of you enjoyed WORKING together and getting to know each other better through the process!


Once we arrived at Howarth Park (and boy was it crowded!!!), some of the park personnel showed us all that needed to be done - cleaning and then painting picnic tables and HUGE trash bins, cleaning out the firepits and hauling off the ashes, raking leaves, picking up trash...Everyone worked hard and hopefully had fun doing it. I was hoping that everyone would get to know each other better...and it looked to me like that definitely happened! Thank you to the parents and siblings who also helped out. The park personnel was VERY impressed with how well we did! True ambassadors!

Remember to write your first pre-travel journal entry on what it means to you to be an American...what characteristics do you think are typical of Americans...and what you think Americans are known for in other countries.

Also, find out the information on your Civics sheet, AND read up on Australia, paying particular attention to how their government is set up and their basic history.

Remember ALL cultural projects and/or presentations are due at our next meeting: May 5th at the Rohnert Park Library.... 2-4 p.m.

More information about our community service project will be coming to you via email soon. Also, if you need to do community service for your high school....I'd be glad to sign it off for you...just bring the forms with you.
